DETROIT (WWJ) — Detroit police on Monday searched the Rouge River as the search for missing teenager Na’Ziyah Harris continues.
DPD officials said the department’s Major Crimes Division searched an area of the river on the city’s west side. Investigators “continue to follow all leads in hopes of finding Na’Ziyah,” officials said.
Authorities did not offer any other details on Monday’s search.
The 13-year-old girl was last seen on Jan. 9, when she was seen getting off the bus near Outer Drive and East Warren Ave. on Detroit's east side.
Monday’s search of the Rouge River comes a little less than a week after DPD investigators and the Michigan State Police spent several hours in Clinton Township searching for signs of Harris in a pond near Gratiot and Quinn Roads.
Officials did not say whether any evidence was found in that search.
Police officials say Harris was wearing a light blue jean shirt, light blue jeans and a pink and white Rugrats coat with a fur collar when she went missing. She is about 5-foot-2 and weighs approximately 130 lbs.
Speaking to reporters late last month, Detroit Police Chief James White said his investigators had not given up hope they may yet find Na'Ziyah safe and unharmed.
Authorities are still asking for tips in the teen’s disappearance. Officials ask anyone with information to call the Detroit Police Department at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
