DETROIT (WWJ) -- The search is on for a man who Detroit police say shot three people after a verbal altercation on the city's east side Wednesday afternoon, including two female teenagers caught in the crossfire, one of which was killed.

Authorities say shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday 22-year-old Timothy Charles McGhee was engaged in a verbal altercation with a 28-year-old man in the 1500 block of E. Outer Drive, between Dequindre and Conant Streets.

At some point, the altercation escalated to gunfire, with McGhee firing multiple shots at the other man, striking him.

Police say two women, ages 18 and 19, were sitting in a parked vehicle behind the male victim and they were both hit by the gunfire.

McGhee fled the scene on foot, headed eastbound on Outer Drive.

The 28-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was privately taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Medics took the 19-year-old woman to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

The 18-year-old victim, however, was taken to the hospital by responding police officers, and was pronounced dead.

Authorities are now searching for McGhee, who is described as approximately 6-foot, 180 lbs., with a tattoo visible on the left side of his neck.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding McGhee, who is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone who has information about his whereabouts -- or any other details about the shooting -- is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department's Homicide Unit at (313) 596-2260.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
