DETROIT (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after someone tried to sell a counterfeit purse to a Detroit police officer, leading to the confiscation of nearly 700 bags.

Detroit police say the confiscation was the result of a Vice Enforcement Unit undercover operation in the area of 8 Mile and Groesbeck on the city’s northeast side.

On Wednesday the suspect tried to sell a fake Louis Vuitton purse to an undercover officer for $150. Those bags usually cost thousands of dollars.

Police say the suspect didn’t have a vendors’ permit.

Authorities seized nearly 700 bags and a Chevy box truck.

Police did not say whether the suspect was arrested, but authorities are still investigating.

DPD “will pursue any and all criminal activity," officials said.
