Investigators said a Dodge Durango and a Chevy vehicle were traveling at a high rate of speed down 8 Mile Rd. near Ryan when the driver of the Chevy collided with a semi truck.

Police responded to the intersection of Van Dyke Ave. and E. 8 Mile Rd. around 2:20 a.m. where the car ended up underneath the semi. The crash closed the area while police investigated.

Witnesses said the Chevrolet appeared to run through a red light before hitting the truck.

It is unknown at this time if the Dodge Durango was also involved in the fatal accident and police did not release details about the status of the semi truck driver.

Warren police said the intersection has been cleared, but the investigation is ongoing
