TROY (WWJ) -- Police investigating a report of a suspected drunken driver in a fast food drive-thru ended up making three arrests, last Friday in Troy.
Officers responded to a call at around 9 p.m. on Feb. 23, from the Sonic restaurant on John R. Rd., near 14 Mile Rd.
When speaking with the driver, a 39-year-old Detroit man, the officers spotted a 40 oz. bottle of beer in the center cupholder and "noted a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the driver," according to the police report.
Police said the driver, who had a suspended license, failed some field sobriety tests before testing at .148% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer.
The man was arrested and taken to the Troy Police lock-up where Chemical Breath Test showed results of .149%, .134%, and .156%.
The two passengers in the car, a 36-year-old Redford woman and a 41-year-old Redford woman, were both found to have warrants for their arrest.
Officers searching the vehicle and found a small zipper purse containing a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for fentanyl, police said.
Police said the 41-year-old passenger, who admitted the purse belonged to her, was booked on a charge of Possession of Narcotics.
The other passenger was in possession of a pipe, police said, was arrested and issued a citation for Possession of Narcotic Equipment.
The driver is facing charges for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Open Intoxicants in a Vehicle, and Driving While License Suspended.
The names of the those involved were not immediately released.
