DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Ferndale man will spend the rest of his life in prison if he's convicted as charged in the murder of a man during a fight in Detroit.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced that 37-year-old Christopher Allen Baldridge is facing one count of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of 24-year-old Justin Karaba.

Just before 11:40 a.m. on Monday, Detroit Police officers responded to the area of West Vernor Highway and Central Street for a reported shooting.

Karaba, a Detroit resident, was taken by EMS to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene, but was tracked down and arrested by DPD officers on Tuesday.

Baldridge was arraigned in 36th District Court on Thursday and was remanded to jail without bond. He will be back in court for a probable cause conference is scheduled for Oct. 5, followed by a preliminary exam on Oct. 12.
