Ford has announced additional layoffs in Michigan and Ohio due to the ongoing UAW strike.

Beginning October 16, 306 employees at the Sharonville Transmission Plant in Ohio, 100 employees at the Dearborn Stamping Plant, 65 employees at the Dearborn Diversified Manufacturing Plant and 45 employees at the Rawsonville Components Plant in Michigan will be laid off.

Ford said these layoffs are a consequence of the strike which began on September 15. The two affected plants supply parts to the Kentucky Truck Plant and the Chicago Assembly Plant, both of which are on strike.

This announcement brings the total number of Ford employees impacted by layoffs due to the strike to 2,480.

Ford's announcement follows one issued by Stellantis earlier today also laying off employees. Stellantis laid off 700 employees at two factories in Indiana. Shawn Fain also spoke today, where he stated there will be a new strategy for the strike and that striking workers had the right to be angry.
