DETROIT (WWJ) - A Gucci spokesperson confirmed to Crain's Detroit that the luxury brand is opening a new store in Detroit this summer after reports about local job postings surfaced online Friday afternoon.

Gucci had several retail positions online for a Store Director, Lead Client Advisor, and Team Coordinator -- all were listed under a Detroit, Michigan location with an April 20 start date.

The rep told Crain's Detroit that while the retailer is coming to the city, they did not say where exactly it would be. Other details such as number of employees, contractors, building costs and the opening date will be announced sometime in the near future, Crain's reported.

Confirmation of the new store comes seven days after Under Armor permanently shut it's doors in downtown Detroit after just five years in business.

Gucci shares a close connection to the Motor City when last year the fashion house joined up with Tommey Walker -- owner of Detroit Verses Everybody -- and created a "Vs Everybody" T-shirt line. Proceeds from the t-shirt sales were donated to Gucci's "Changemakers project" here in the city.

The downtown location would bring the luxury brand's presence in Michigan to two -- Gucci currently has a store in the Somerset Mall in Troy.
