(WWJ) A security guard at a Grand Rapids-area hotel was shot and killed early Tuesday while checking on a disturbance in a room.
The gunman, 21-year-old Jacob Grygorzyk, set up a phone in attempt to record the fatal shooting of the guard, 38-year-old John Cain Jr.
Cain had been sent to remove Grygorzyk at the Grand Rapids Inn in Wyoming following a disorderly complaint.
Wyoming police say the video didn't show the shooting, but shots could be heard in the background. The video was posted on social media but later removed.
After fleeing the scene, Grygorzyk went to his mother's house nearby and died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
Anyone with information on the situation is urged to contact the Wyoming Department of Public Safety at 616-530-7300.
