DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Hazel Park man has been arrested and charged with shooting four people at a gas station on Detroit's west side, killing two of them, earlier this week.
Jaylen Lee Robinson, 30, was arraigned on Friday on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, four counts of Felony Firearm, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
Detroit Police responded to the shooting just before 4 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at the Marathon station on Puritan near Livernois.
They found four people shot.
Martin Clay, 32, of Davison, Michigan, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronoucned dead at the scene.
Maria Jenkins, 34, of Highland Park, had a gunshot wound to her torso. She was taken to a hospital where she later died, according to prosecutors.
Two other women who were shot, ages 28 and 39, were treated for their injuries and survived.
Investigators said there was a "verbal altercation" between Robinson and Clay, which escalated into a physical fight, before Robinson fired multiple shots.
One witness at the scene told WWJ's Charlie Langton the dispute was over someone buying snacks, although police have not confirmed that detail.
Robinson fled the scene but was taken into custody Tuesday night.
Michigan Department of Corrections records list Robinson as a probationer, with previous condition on drug and weapons charges.
Information about his bond was not immediately provided. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
