INKSTER (WWJ) - A 47-year-old Inkster man was charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder in the May 14th fatal stabbing of a 60-year-old man and his dog, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced on Friday.

Jason Barnes of Inkster was arraigned on the murder charge on June 1 at the 22nd District Court and remanded to jail.

Inkster Police officers accuse Barnes of stabbing Carles Tye, 60, of Inkster to death in mid-May.

Police said they were first called to the residence in the 30050 block of Annapolis Circle in Inkster around 9:17 p.m. on May 14 after getting reports of a stabbing.

Officers searched the residence and found Tye in the kitchen with a kitchen knife in his abdomen. Medics pronounced him dead when they arrived to the home.

Police also discovered the victim's dog had been stabbed before the suspect fled the scene; the condition of the pet is unknown at this time.

The Inkster Police Department said they were able to arrest Barnes the very next day. A warrant request was then submitted to the WCPO at the end of May.

Barnes is due in court on June 8 at 9:00 a.m. for a Probable Cause Conference.
