DETROIT (WWJ) – Time is running out to lace up the ice skates this winter.
This weekend will be the final chance for Metro Detroiters to hit the ice rink at Downtown Detroit’s Campus Martius Park.
The skating season at “Michigan’s premier outdoor ice rink” comes to a close after Sunday, perhaps fittingly, as temperatures are expected to warm up considerably this weekend.
The rink, which opened at the start of the holiday season last fall, is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $11 for adults, $9 for children 12 and under and seniors 59 and older, and $8 for active military and first responders. Skate rental is $5.

The season will close with a chance to go “Skating with the Stars.” Figure Skating in Detroit (FSD) will host the event at the rink on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. It’s a fundraiser aiming to raise $20,000 to fund academic programming, uniforms and more for the group, which serves girls ages 6-18 in Metro Detroit.
Skaters will get the chance to hit the ice with Olympic Gold Medalist Meryl Davis,Figure Skating Champion Starr Andrews and Miss Michigan Teen 2020 Aneesa Sheik, along with other special guests.
Tickets for Skating with the Stars range from $15-$50 and can be purchased online.
