DETROIT (WWJ) -- Pull out those patio chairs, people. A warmup on the way is sure to tempt many Metro Detroiters outdoors this weekend.
"We know spring is a volatile time of the year. We get big temperature changes and we've got one on the underway," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean DeVore on WWJ.
DeVore said we were "in the depths of the cold" on Thursday, but temps will creep up a bit to a high of around 40 degrees on Friday.
On Saturday, it'll warm up through the 40s into the mid to upper-50s; making for a pleasant and mild Saturday afternoon.
"We'll stay in the upper 40s Saturday night with some showers — and then it gets really warm, with a wind and some sunny breaks on Sunday with a high of 60 to 65," DeVore said.
While the 60s the first weekend in March is hardly typical (average in the low 30s), we may not quite break the record.
According to the National Weather Service, the record high for Detroit on April 6 currently stands at 67 degrees, set in 2009.
Either way, you shouldn't put your winter coat and gloves away just yet.
DeVore said Sunday's winds will blow in some colder air into our area, "and then we've got a system that will bring some rain over to snow as temperatures go back in the 30s on Monday." There could even be a little snow Sunday night, as temps plummet.
Looking ahead, AccuWeather is calling for 30s and 40s — typical temperatures for this time of year — all next week and into next weekend.
