(WWJ) A Mackinac Island man, tracked down by a fugitive task force, is facing charges in the alleged sexual assault of a child.
Michigan State Police this week announced the arrest of 33-year-old Scott Craig Castelein in connection with a case dating back several years.
In June 2021, the troopers with MSP Gaylord Post were dispatched to take a report from a survivor who disclosed that she had been sexually abused as a child, over the course of several years, police said.
The investigation led to an arrest warrant for Castelein, and police began searching for him.
The MSP Seventh District Fugitive Team found and arrested the suspect in Emmet County last Tuesday, and he was lodged in the Emmet County Jail.
Castelein was arraigned on Dec. 8 in the 90th District Court in Emmet County on five counts Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree - Victim Under 13.
He posted a $50,000 cash/surety bond and was released, police said.
Castelein's next scheduled court appearance is set for Jan. 12.
