(WWJ) A 38-year-old Detroit man has been charged in an alleged road rage shooting in Dearborn.

Luis Berrios-Rosario was arraigned in 19th District Court Friday on one count of Assault With Intent to Murder, one count of Assault With Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, one count of Weapons-Discharge from a Motor Vehicle, one count of Felonious Assault and four counts of Felony Firearm.

On Sunday, Oct. 18, at around 5:40 p.m., Dearborn police responded to the area of Warren Ave. and Chase on a report of shots fired.

The victim, Aboudy Elhadi told The Arab American News he was driving westbound on Warren when he noticed the suspect driving erratically.

"He was driving crazy," Elhadi said. "He was driving all over the road, cutting people off and people were honking their horns and everything. Then he cut me off and I thought to myself, 'you need to get a picture of this guy's face to get him off the streets.'"

That's when Elhadi pulled up next to the man -- in a distinctive early 2000s green Honda Accord with a gray door -- and rolled down his window and began recording.

"I really thought this guy was drunk or on drugs," he told told The Arab American News. "When I pulled up I said to him that he needed to slow down and he started cussing at me and was waving his gun at me. The next thing I knew he was shooting at me and all I could do was duck."

Fortunately, Elhadi was not injured.

Police on Monday released images of the suspect and his vehicle. The next day, acting on a tip from the public, the Dearborn Special Operations Officers located and arrested Berrios-Rosario.

Berrios-Rosario was ordered held on a $100,000 cash bond. He will be back in court for a Probable Cause Conference scheduled for Oct. 30.

As always, authorities urge drivers not to engage in road rage. If you see someone driving in a dangerous manner, keep your distance and call police.
