DETROIT (WWJ) A man, whom police say was not wearing a seatbelt, survived a rollover crash on a ramp to I-75 on Detroit’s east side.

According to Michigan State Police (MSP); the Detroit Regional Communication Center received a call of a vehicle that had rolled over on the ramp from eastbound M-8 to southbound I-75 on Saturday, March 22, around 4:30 a.m.

Troopers arrived and found the driver, 66, unconscious in the road; MSP said in a social media post.

The crash was blocking the entrance ramp. Their preliminary investigation revealed the pickup truck driver was traveling south in the center lane when he lost control and ran off the roadway—going up the embankment of the entrance ramp, across both ramps to I-75 and up the embankment of southbound I-75.

The vehicle rolled over and landed on the roadway, MSP said.

Paramedics rushed the driver to the hospital for treatment.
His condition was not released.

According to MSP, he was not wearing a seatbelt. No other injuries were reported.

“There are two things we can take away from this crash: wear your seatbelt and control your vehicle,” First Lieutenant Mike Shaw said. “We continue to see many drivers not wearing their seatbelt. When you get behind the wheel, take the time to buckle up.”
