Southfield police identified and arrested a 25-year-old man they believe is responsible for the carjacking death of a local man.

The incident began when officers were called on reports of a carjacking to the 2600 block of Primary on Dec. 27, 2020 -- the Sunday after Christmas -- to discover a man who had been shot numerous times.

Investigators discovered the man had been carjacked when he returned to the house.

He was shot in the chest and thigh, and transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

At the hospital, the 48-year-old man was declared dead.

At the scene, police found numerous shell casings and developed evidence that led them to the arrest of Tyron Miguel Turner Jr. He was arrested and charged Thursday with felony murder, and carjacking and felony firearm.

Police say the case is still under investigation and anyone with information should call 247-796-5500.
