ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) -- A man accused of exposing himself in front of a group of young girls in Rochester Hills is now in custody.

It happened back on June 29 shortly before 4 p.m. at the Village of Rochester Hills outdoor shopping center at 200 N. Adams Road.

The Oakland Sheriff's Office said the group of pre-teen girls were sitting outside eating at Shake Shack when the man lifted his shirt. They noticed his zipper was down and he exposed himself.

A few minutes later, the girls moved in front of the Barnes & Noble bookstore when they saw the same man, who again exposed himself.

As of the girls yelled at the man after the second instance, he quickened his pace. Several adult women were nearby and asked the girls if they needed help. The man took off running through an open-air food court and into the parking lot, where he was last seen.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested Monday night after he turned himself in to OCSO deputies.

Detectives are expected to turn the case over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review on Tuesday.

“I appreciate the public’s help with numerous tips coming in after the suspect’s photo was released,” Bouchard said. “He was taken into custody this evening. We look forward to this case moving forward in the days ahead.”

Officials said the suspect may have been involved in a similar incident in Auburn Hills earlier the same day. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950.

The suspect is being held in the Oakland County Jail.
