TROY (WWJ) -- A young man who shot a co-worker last year in Troy will be spending at least the next 15 years in prison.

Robert Paljusevic, 22, sentenced Tuesday by Judge Victoria Valentine, nearly a year after he shot a co-worker during an argument, in the parking garage of Corewell Health Hospital in Troy.

Following the shooting on March 20, 2025, federal, local, and state law enforcement agencies responded to search the hospital, and the facility went into lockdown.

The 25-year-old victim, who worked with Paljusevic at Corewell, was hit twice in the arm.

Paljusevic ultimately pleaded no contest to charges of assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm.

Valentine sentenced Paljusevic to 11-50 years for the assault with intent to murder charge. He received an additional two years for each of the other charges, to be served consecutively, which means he faces a minimum of 15 years behind bars.

Paljusevic and the victim were friends, according to police, but had a falling out when Paljusevic wasn't invited to a private funeral service for the victim's father. The shooting victim described Paljusevic and "Jekyll and Hyde," saying he could be friendly one minute and then over-react over the smallest slight.

The victim told the court that he continues to recover, both mentally and physically, from the shooting.
