Yesterday's weather was one for the record books.

In Detroit, thermometers hit 70 degrees yesterday, tying a record set nearly 100 years ago in 1925.

Meanwhile, temperatures in Flint rose to 71 degrees, breaking a record of 65 degrees set in 1977. And in Saginaw, it got up to 69 degrees, breaking the previous high of 64 degrees also set in 1977.

Notably, the region was in a deep freeze just a few weeks ago.

So what's next? Thunderstorms. Thursday's forecast calls for thundershowers most of the day in metro Detroit — and then cooler -- but dry -- temperatures for the weekend.

Thunderstorms are expected to begin at about 7 a.m. Thursday, continue all day, and then taper off in the evening.

But after that, it should be dry. High temperatures will be in the high 50s on Friday with partly sunny skies — and then dip down into the 40s for the weekend.
