(WWJ) With Spooky Season in full swing, a new report looking into the legend of Bigfoot finds that Michigan is a sasquatch hotspot.
The tongue-in-cheek study by Canada Sports Betting (CSB) analyzed sightings, forest cover, and climate, and ranked Michigan as the fifth most likely place in all of North America to spot a Bigfoot — giving Michiganders 2.5% odds of seeing Bigfoot.
Only Washington state, West Virginia and British Columbia ranked higher as likely locations for sightings of the famed creature.
The report says Oscoda County is the number one hotspot in the Great Lakes State, followed by Schoolcraft at a close second. In Metro Detroit, your best chance to see a Bigfoot is apparently near Monroe.
The most recent Michigan claim came in May of this year, when a father and son said they spotted Bigfoot while fishing in Monroe County.
In Michigan — especially the Upper Peninsula — Bigfoot sightings contribute to local folklore. They even have their own name for the creature: the "Dewey Lake Monster." And some people get pretty serious about it, holding events like the "Bigfoot Bash: to celebrate the mystery.
