(WWJ) — A Northern Michigan man is behind bars after a traffic stop for driving with his phone in his hand led to the discovery of illegal drugs.

Heath Markham of Cadillac was arraigned on multiple drug offenses Thursday, a day after he was arrested in Cadillac.

Michigan State Police officials say the 51-year-old was pulled over on West River Street near Mitchell Street when a trooper spotted him holding his phone while driving. Officials said he also had a cracked windshield.

During the traffic stop, the trooper found Markham was in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, suspected heroin and psilocybin mushrooms.

Authorities also found a digital scale, plastic baggies and three counterfeit $50 bills, according to MSP.

Markham was arrested and taken to the Wexford County Jail. He was arraigned Thursday on one count each of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine (second or subsequent offense) and possession of cocaine under 25 grams (second or subsequent offense). He also received a habitual offender fourth offense notice.

His bond was set at $100,000 cash/surety.

Markham’s next court date has been scheduled for Feb. 25.
