(WWJ) There has been some mixed reaction to the NFL's decision to play a game on Christmas Day this year.
WWJ's Tony Ortiz reports while some are grumbling about the league's scheduling of a December 25 game, for the most part football fans are saying they're glad to have a chance to watch a game on the holiday — which should once again produce huge ratings for the NFL.
Last year, the three games that were played on Christmas average roughly 30 million viewers.
However, no one is surprised since many believe that this would happen, including pro football talks, Mike Florio, who said as much back in December, they say they're not gonna play games when Christmas falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
"Next Christmas falls on a Wednesday because of leap year, they're gonna find a way, the people who see those numbers who are responsible for the sport, who are profiting from the sport, they're not gonna give up Christmas Day," Floria said. "They're gonna find a way to play."
Ortiz says the league's decision is also a gut punch to the NBA which will play on Christmas Day and will struggle to lure viewers, once again, away from the NFL,
