DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police have released a photo of a mangled car, as troopers investigate whether drug use led to a rollover crash along I-94.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon, on the eastbound side of the freeway near French Road, blocking the two right lanes as well as the exit to French Rd., and backing up traffic for miles.
Calling the incident "another preventable crash," First Lt. Mike Shaw of the MSP Second District said that there was only one vehicle involved in the incident.
The injured driver originally was listed in critical condition at a local hospital, police said, but was later upgraded to temporary-serious condition. No one else was hurt.
While the cause of the crash is still being investigated, MSP said troopers are "looking into possible narcotics involvement."
WWJ's Scott Ryan reported there were traffic delays along eastbound I-94 from before I-75, as police remained on the scene into the late afternoon.
