ROMULUS (WWJ) -- For a second day in a row, Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting on a Detroit-area freeway.
Late Tuesday night, MSP said someone started shooting at a car headed southbound on I-275 near I-94 in Romulus, hitting two people.
The wounded driver, identified as a 35-year-old man, crossed the median to head northbound on the freeway, and drove directly to Oakwood Hospital in Taylor for treatment.
Officials said the driver and his front-seat passenger, a 23-year-old Harper Woods man, suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Two people who were sitting the backseat of the car were not hurt.
State Police closed the freeway to look for evidence.
At this time, it's unclear what led to the shooting, and there is no description of a suspect or suspect vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, and MSP said detectives are working to determine the details of what happened.
“This investigation is on going as troopers attempt to determine what occurred,” said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, in a statement. “Troopers will continue speaking with the passengers in the vehicle and doing on scene investigative work."
Anyone who witnessed the shooting, or who has any helpful information, is asked to call MSP at 855-MICH-TIP.
