WAYLAND (WWJ) -- Police closed a stretch of northbound US-131 in Allegan County following several crashes, including one where a semi truck lost control and struck a Sheriff's Deputy's cruiser.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., the Allegan County Sheriff's Office announced that northbound US-131 would be shut down between Exit 64 to Wayland and Exit 72 to 100th St until further notice.

According to ACSO, several accidents have to be cleared before drivers can once again pass safely.

The worst of these crashes involved a semi-truck that lost control and hit an ALCO Deputy's patrol car. Luckily, no one was injured in the collision.

"Law Enforcement, Fire and Tow Services are working hard to get US 131 back open," ASCO said in a press release.

Around 6:30 p.m., the full stretch of northbound US-131 opened back up to traffic.
