
LANSING (WWJ) - There have been no arrests in connection with a mass shooting along the riverfront in downtown Lansing over the holiday weekend.
Lansing Police said seven young people were shot, including a 17-year-old boy who died, when someone opened fire in the 300 block of River Front Dr., near Rotary Park and Lansing Shuffle, just before 3 a.m. Monday.
In an update shared Tuesday, police identified the 17=year-old killed as Kylete Owens.
The other victims include a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old who remained in critical condition at a hospital, Tuesday morning, according to police.
Police said two 16-year-olds and two 18-year-olds suffered non-life-threatening injuries. All the victims in this case are male, police said.
Police do not have a suspect in custody and are still interviewing witnesses, as the investigation continues.
While it's not yet clear what led to he gunfire, police and Mayor Andy Schor, have said they believe this is an isolated incident.
While Schor stressed that Lansing's downtown and parks are safe, he announced that the city will immediately enforcing an existing curfew ordinance for kids. The curfew applies to those 16 and younger, takes effect immediately, and will remain in place through the summer.
Police would like to hear from anyone who has video of the shooting.
