CHEBOYGAN COUNTY (WWJ) - A Northern Michigan woman was arrested by police this month after she damaged her then-boyfriend's vehicle after a bad break up over the summer, authorities confirmed.
Jasmine Dillon, 21, from Afton was taken into custody by deputies from the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 18, Michigan State Police said, in connection to the alleged vandalism where a sunroof and side mirror were destroyed.
According to MSP, the trouble began on Friday, June 3 when Dillon's then-boyfriend told her that he wished to break up while they were sitting in his vehicle in Cheboygan County.
A trooper from the Gaylord Post was dispatched to the man's home on Walker Road in Walker Township after a car was reportedly damaged.
When authorities arrived on scene, the boyfriend told police that Dillon became angry after he told her he wanted to end their relationship and refused to leave the vehicle.
As the boyfriend exited the vehicle to physically remove her, Dillon climbed into the back seat before she began kicking the sunroof, which eventually shattered.
Dillon then got out of the car and the boyfriend said he jumped back in the vehicle and locked her out.
According to the boyfriend, Dillion tried to get back in by climbing through the driver's side window. When she was unsuccessful, police were told that she began punching the driver's side mirror and broke the glass.
After speaking with the boyfriend, the trooper tried to interview Dillion at her home, but no one came to the door. When the trooper tried to call Dillion on her cell phone, he was hung up on. Further attempts to reach her by phone went unanswered, police said.
"A report was submitted to the Cheboygan County Prosecutor’s Office," MSP said in a prepared statement. "An arrest warrant was authorized, and Dillon was arrested by deputies from the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office on October 18."
Dillion was arraigned on charges including one count Malicious Destruction of Personal Property $1,000 or more, but less than $20,000 in Cheboygan County.
She was given a a $5,000 cash surety bond.
