GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Part of I-75 was closed in Michigan Monday morning after multiple crashes — including one that was fatal, police said.

Authorities said on Nov. 27 at 5:11 a.m., Grand Blanc Township Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a crash on southbound I-75 south of N. Holly Road involving several vehicles. One man suffered fatal injuries.

An investigation found that a Ford Expedition was traveling southbound when it hit ice and lost control. The vehicle hit a guardrail and ended up on the shoulder of the median. Both occupants of the vehicle got out of the car to look at the damage. A Lincoln Mark Lt, which was also traveling southbound, lost control on the ice and hit one of the occupants of the Expedition.

Police said two other vehicles were involved in a separate crash.

The 41-year-old man that was killed was identified as the driver of the Expedition. He was a resident of Flint. His name has not been released at this time.

The Lincoln was driven by a 62-year-old Flint resident, who wasn't hurt.

Police said alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash.

Southbound I-75 was closed for several hours at the crash scene, but has since reopened to traffic.

The Grand Blanc Police said in a statement that it is important to remain in your vehicle if you are involved in a crash.
