(WWJ) -- More than 85,000 DTE customers were without power Thursday morning as severe weather continued to plague metro Detroit.
After a long summer of storms bringing heavy rains, flooding, high winds and power outages, more metro Detroiters dealt with more of the same on the first day of fall.
DTE Energy reported around 85,500 homes and businesses were without power as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday, with 134 crews in the field working to fix the outages.
That number had risen from around 10,000 Wednesday morning.
There was a major outage between West Bloomfield and Farmington Hills, with thousands of customers between 12 Mile and Maple Roads in the dark, as of Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Other areas experiencing outages included southern Washtenaw County and northern Oakland County.

In Livonia, Coolidge Elementary, Kennedy Elementary and Frost Middle School have canceled classes due to outages.
Michigan State Police warn there are traffic lights out all over the metro Detroit area, due to the outages. Remember: Intersections with dark traffic lights are always to be treated as four-way stops.
A flood watch was scheduled to remain in effect until at least Thursday morning in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties as forecasters are predicting more stormy weather over next two days in metro Detroit.
