SOUTHGATE (WWJ) -- Students at a Downriver high school were told to stay in their classrooms, just as a precaution, while police investigated a report of unauthorized people in the building on Thursday.

Anderson High School in Southgate was placed in "Secure Mode" late Thursday morning, with Southgate Police officers on the scene.

Superintendent Sharon Irvine told WWJ Newsradio 950 that two people entered the school building without permission, and a student was concerned.

According to an email sent to parents on behalf of Southgate Community School District:

"This morning a student reported that there were two teenage boys in the building that are not AHS students. They reported that these boys were here to confront a former girlfriend/new boyfriend situation. This information prompted a secure mode and Southgate police were called for support. After reviewing camera footage, the boys did the leave the building. There is no immediate threat to our students, but we remain in secure mode until police have completed the investigation."

A little different from a lockdown, "Secure Mode" is protocol used when there's a potential threat or hazard, but not an immediate threat inside a school building.

Irvine said no one was hurt.
