DETROIT (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police are looking into whether or not there was a shooting on Detroit's Belle Isle Monday night.

Shortly before 9:15 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 26, MSP said 911 calls came in about possible shots fired on Belle Isle — a state park managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Troopers and Conservation Officers responded to the area and met with witnesses who said they saw a fight and heard shots, according to police. There were no reports of any injuries.

The only suspect description they could provide was it was a tall black male who got into a blue SUV and left, MSP said.

Troopers with a K9 team searched the scene for evidence, but no casing, blood or victims were found, police said.

As of Tuesday morning, the investigation was ongoing.

“Currently there isn’t a lot to prove or disprove this incident occurred,” said MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw, in a statement.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting, or who has any information that could help police with this case, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK-UP (800-773-2587) or the MSP tip line at 855-MICH-TIP.
