Police investigating "suspicious deaths" of man and woman in Shelby Township

SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway into what police are calling "suspicious deaths" of two people in Macomb County's Shelby Township on Monday.

The Shelby Township Police Department said the deaths occurred in the 5200 block of Mesa Dr. That's in the area of 26 Mile Rd. and Mound Rd., near Stony Creek Metropark.

The victims are a 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, police said, but they are are not releasing any further information about the victims at this time.

Police did not say how the people died, but Sgt. Mark Benedettini said in a news release that investigators "cannot rule out domestic violence as a contributing factor."

Benedettini said police do not believe there is any danger to the public, as the investigation continues.
