PONTIAC (WWJ) – A 28-year-old Pontiac man is looking at the possibility of life in prison after being charged with murdering another man.
Dontae Jermain Geter is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail after being arraigned Monday, after being arrested at a Pontiac home Sunday night.
Geter was charged with open murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the shooting death of 31-year-old Torrey Ryder of Pontiac.
Ryder's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds on Jan. 10 in an apartment on Surrey Lane in Pontiac. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released any other details about the shooting, including a possible motive or whether Geter knew Ryder prior to the alleged murder.
A conviction on the murder charge carries up to life in prison, while a felony firearm conviction carries a mandatory 2-year prison term.
