ROMULUS (WWJ) -- A Wayne County couple has been reunited with their puppy just weeks after it was stolen during an armed robbery.

Romulus police report that on Wednesday, a French Bulldog Boston Terrier mix, named Rocky, was returned to Jason and Amber Schlegel of Trenton.

The puppy has been purchased by someone in Detroit, who later called police after they heard about the couple's story, reports the News-Herald.

The Schlegel's say Rocky seems to be okay, but appears to have lost weight, is very dirty and has a case of worms.

As for the men who robbed the couple and took Rocky at gunpoint, their identity and whereabouts remain a mystery.

Romulus police report that on Wednesday night, June 29, a man had called Amber and Jason for a mobile locksmith on Plain Way near Eureka and Middlebelt, claiming he had been locked out of his car.

When the two arrived on the scene, three Black men in their 20s -- dressed in all black and reportedly wearing masks -- approached the victims with black handguns and demanded money.

The couple had no cash, so the suspects took off with their tools and the puppy.
