ROMULUS (WWJ) – A stalking suspect is in custody after Romulus police caught him near his victim’s home with multiple loaded guns in his car.

Officers were called to investigate a “suspicious vehicle” in the area of Harrison and Eureka believed to be occupied by a stalking suspect with a valid PPO against him, police officials said on Facebook.

The 28-year-old suspect, who also had a warrant from another jurisdiction, was “just a short drive” from the victim’s house. As officers approached, he allegedly jumped out of his vehicle.

He resisted the officers and was non-compliant with their orders, though he was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

Authorities say once he was secured, officers found two loaded and uncased guns, along with more than 300 total rounds of ammo in the car. One gun was lying on the passenger seat, while the other was accessible behind the seat.

The suspect, who didn’t have a fixed address, was being held in the Wayne County Jail, officials said Monday afternoon.

His name has not been released, pending arraignment, but he will be charged with aggravated stalking and two counts each of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting and obstructing.

Authorities did not release any information about the stalking case, including whether the victim knew the suspect.

Officials did not specify when the arrest was made.

“Kudos to the Officers, it doesn't take much imagination to know that this story could have ended very differently,” a post on the Romulus Police Department’s Facebook page said.
