Southfield man killed after car goes up embankment on Lodge Freeway, rolls over

DETROIT (WWJ) — A Southfield man has died after a rollover crash in Midtown Detroit late Sunday night.

The crash happened along the southbound Lodge Freeway around 10:55 p.m. on June 23, according to Michigan State Police.

The driver, a 59-year-old man, drove up the freeway embankment near the Forest exit, causing his car to overturn.

EMS personnel performed CPR on the man at the scene. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s family has been notified, but his name was not released.

Authorities did not say what caused the crash. It was not immediately clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
