State Police say they were dispatched to eastbound I-696 near Campbell Road around 8:40 p.m. Friday.
A passenger reported a "light colored vehicle" fired shots at him for an unknown reason while he was driving eastbound on I-696.
He was not injured.
State Police closed down the freeway from Woodward to Mohawk. A canine team and troopers looked for evidence but found none. The victim's vehicle was taken to the post for processing. The investigation remains ongoing.
