ADRIAN, Mich. (WWJ) – Michigan State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Lenawee County early Sunday morning that left a suspect in critical condition.
It all unfolded around 1:15 a.m. when Adrian city police called the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department to get help searching for a suspect.
Authorities said the subject had pulled out a gun at a residence and fired shots.
A deputy who responded to the call found the subject hiding in a vacant lot, according to the sheriff's office.
At some point, a shot was fired and the suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities have not released any details about the moments leading up to the shooting.
The suspect's name and age were not immediately released.
The deputy who fired their gun, a 31-year veteran of the police force, was not injured in the incident, but has been placed on administrative leave, per the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office's policy.
Detectives from the MSP First District Special Investigation Section are investigating the case.
