SAGINAW (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police believe drunken driving was a factor in a morning crash that injured several people, including an MSP trooper, along I-75.

At around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, MSP said troopers were investigating a minor traffic crash on northbound I-75 near M-46, in the Saginaw area, when another driver speeding by hit the trooper's car.

No one was inside the patrol car at the time of the crash, MSP said, but a trooper was hurt while jumping out of the path of the crashed vehicles.

MSP said the occupants of a car involved in the first crash were injured in the second crash.

The trooper and the others were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver who crashed into the patrol car was arrested for suspected Operating While Intoxicated, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

"Once again another driver failed to move over and struck one of our patrol cars, another persons car and forced a sergeant to jump the median wall," MSP said in a social media post, sharing information about incident. "It really is simple, If you see an emergency vehicle, move over a lane and slow at least 10 mph below the speed limit."
