ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- A young man and a 13-year-old boy are facing charges in the sexual assault of a woman near Michigan Stadium, during the University of Michigan vs. Purdue football game.

Jarrell Childs, 19, of Detroit was arraigned 14A-1 District Court Friday in connection with the violent crime the night of November 4, 2023, on the Ann Arbor Golf & Outing Club, located at 400 E. Stadium, across from the Big House.

According to Ann Arbor Police, the victim was walking back to her car, which was parked on the golf course, when she was attacked by the pair. The golf course is used as a parking lot during U-M football games.

Police said Childs and the 13-year-old did not know the victim prior to this incident, and this was a random attack.

Assistant Prosecutor Amy Reiser said police caught the suspects using surveillance footage when they used the woman's credit card at an ATM in Detroit.

"They had to be identified through... first it was the use of the stolen credit card that they took out of truck, that the victim was obtaining warmer clothes from, and then ultimately through DNA," Reiser said in court Friday.

Childs is charged with the following: Criminal sexual conduct – first degree, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, stealing a financial transaction device without consent, and larceny.

His bond was set at $75,000 cash/surety, no 10%, and remains lodged in the the Washtenaw County Jail.

Police said a juvenile petition was authorized against the 13-year-old for the following charges: Criminal sexual conduct – first degree, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, larceny from the person, and stealing a financial transaction device without consent.

The younger defendant, whose name was not released, is being held at the Washtenaw County Juvenile Detention Center.
