DUNDEE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Officials have confirmed that a weak tornado touched down in Monroe County on Saturday, leaving some significant damage behind.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, an EF-0 tornado with peak wind speeds of 80 mph tracked through the Village of Dundee, late in the morning of April 1.

Damage was mostly concentrated within greater downtown Dundee, with some damage also reported to buildings in the Memorial Park area.

According to a preliminary report, the tornado formed at 11:03 a.m., at the intersection of Brewer Rd, and Petersburg Rd., southwest of Dundee, traveling a 7.3-mile path to the intersection of Dixon and Sullivan Roads.

At the start and along the path, NWS spotters said there was damage to pine trees, an outbuilding and shingles on a house. Some large tree limbs were also pulled down.

Wind speeds picked up as the twister entered downtown Dundee, where -- aided by "funneling effects" between downtown buildings -- the NWS said the tornado partially blew off a roof. Windows were also blown out, and there was also some damage to trees and some cars, the NWS said.

Village Manager Mike Hoffmeister said downtown Dundee was closed on Saturday following the storm. (See more photos of the damage HERE).

Hoffmeister said no injuries were reported.

Officials noted that this early information could change as assessments continue.

At the time of the touchdown, there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect for the area. However, it does not appear that a Tornado Watch or Tornado Warning was issued.

As for the rest of the weekend, things are looking a bit better for the Southeast Michigan area. Forecasters said Saturday night would be dry with clearing skies, and chilly temps in the 20s. Sunday will be partly sunny with a few clouds and highs in the mid-40s.
