UPDATE -- National Weather Service confirms EF-0 tornado touchdown Saturday in Dundee

DUNDEE (WWJ) -- When a severe thunderstorm system moved through southeast Michigan's Monroe and Lenawee counties on Saturday, the high winds brought down tree limbs and building debris -- including wood, bricks and shingles.

Around 10:30 a.m., Accuweather meteorologists picked up a line of storms near Morenci, at the edge of Lenawee County. The weather system was moving northeast at 55 miles per hour. Forecasters predicted wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail the size of nickels.

The fallout of the fast-moving thunderstorm became clear when the Dundee Police Department posted pictures of the village's Downtown area.

Strewn through the streets of the village center, between storefronts and a gazebo, are slats of wood, swaths of shingles, twisted rain gutters and bricks.

In their Facebook post, Dundee PD said that no injuries had been reported but urged residents to check on their family and friends.

Village Manager Mike Hoffmeister spoke to WWJ Saturday afternoon and said that despite the high winds, power outages were minimal.

Hoffmeister also stated that Dundee's Downtown is closed until further notice while public works officials clear debris and ensure that the area is safe for residents.

Joining the police department in the assessment and cleanup efforts were Dundee's Fire and Public Works Departments along with state and county law enforcement officials. Police and fire crews from surrounding towns also came out to help, including those from Ida and Summerfield.

Michigan Gas and DTE were onsite as well, checking for potential damage to electric and gas lines.
