TROY (WWJ) -- Troy Police are addressing an erroneous alert that went out regarding a report of an active shooter near the hospital. At this time, police say there is no active shooter, and no threat in the area.
Late Tuesday morning, people working a Troy Corewell Health Beaumont Hospital were alarmed by an "ACTIVE SHOOTER" alert shared on social media, urging them to avoid the area of M-59 and Dequindre, and to shelter in place.

The Troy Police Department responded to concerns about the alert, posting on social media:
"We are aware of social media posts indicating there’s an active shooter at Troy Corewell Hospital in the M-59 and Dequindre area. We are not aware of any threat in the area or at the hospital. We are investigating where this information is being sourced from."
This comes as the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a shooting at a home near 24 Mile Rd. and Foss in Macomb Township — which is not far from the Troy hospital. However, the Troy PD said there is no connection to the emergency alert that was shared, and the Macomb shooting.
WWJ has calls out to police for more information.
