DETROIT (WWJ) -- A major road on Detroit's east side was shut down, early Monday, as police responded to a multi-car crash with critical injuries.
Video shows speeding cars losing control and crashing into parked vehicles on Outer Drive, just west of Chalmers.
"I see pieces of a car on the median part of Chalmers, and I see some very, very smashed up cars," WWJ's Charlie Langton reported from the scene.
Langton said police confirmed that there were critical injuries in the incident; although it's not clear how many people were hurt.
At this time there is no description of the suspects, who fled the area.
Later in the morning, an accident reconstruction team was on the scene trying to determine exactly what happened, while officers were canvassing the neighborhood, hoping to get their hands on more video footage of the incident.
Anyone with information should call Detroit Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (800-773-2587).
