WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) – Monday marked 12 years since James Odle was shot and killed while walking in Waterford Township.
His family is still calling for answers more than a decade later.
It was shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011 when Odle, 28, was walking on S. Lynn Street near Lakeview in Waterford when a white SUV parked nearby.
Authorities have described the vehicle as possibly a GMC Acadia, Dodge Journey or Chrysler Pacifica – or something else similar.
The suspect, described as a Black man with a thin build and medium height, got out and shot Odle several times. The suspect was wearing a black durag, black t-shirt and checkered shorts.
Odle collapsed in a nearby yard, where he died, leaving behind two young children.
While a possible motive in the case is unknown, Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest for Odle's murder.
