
WAYNE (WWJ) -- A 22-year-old man is facing charges in the alleged unlawful imprisonment, assault and torture of a 23-year-old woman in Flat Rock and the city of Wayne.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Jeremy Robert Brock of Wayne was arraigned in 33rd District Court on Thursday in connection with crimes dating back to Sept. 16, 2022.
On that date, it's alleged that Brock took his ex-girlfriend from her home on Iroquois Lane in Flat Rock at gunpoint, and forced her to steal a vehicle.
Police said Brock forced the victim to drive to Wayne, where he held her against her will at a hotel on Michigan Ave., and then a home on Hayes Street.
The woman was held by Brock for six weeks, according to investigators, during which time it's alleged that he assaulted her multiple times with a baseball bat.
The victim finally escaped just before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, when Wayne police officers were called to a convenience store on a report of about a woman who was trying to run away from someone.
Police made contact with the victim at the store and Brock was arrested.
In Flat Rock, Brock has been charged with one count of Unlawful Imprisonment, one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, one count of Domestic Violence, and two counts of Felony Firearm. In Wayne he is charged with one count of Torture, one count of Unlawful Imprisonment, two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and one count of Domestic Violence.
Brock was given a $300,000/10% bond for both cases, with the conditions that he have no contact with the victim and does not leave the state if he is released. He will be back in court for a probable cause conference on both cases will be held on Nov. 15.
