Thunderstorms packing wind gusts of 50-60 miles per hour knocked down trees, tree branches and some power lines Monday night.


A gust of 61 mph was reported at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, while a 51 mph gust was recorded at Lake St. Clair Metropark, according to the National Weather Service.

One tree fell on a vacant house along 13 Mile Road near Jefferson in St. Clair Shores, according to WWJ's Luke Sloan.

In Livonia, Linda Vulaj Johnson posted photos on Facebook of her windshield that was smashed by a tree branch that fell during the storm. Johnson said she was okay and wrote "it literally was so loud I thought a tree was on top of my car. I couldn't see anything but glass shattered all over. It was crazy."

Tree branches also came down in and around Ann Arbor.

Hail was reported in Hazel Park and in Washtenaw County.

DTE Energy reported about 2,600 power outages Monday night. Most electricity was restored by Tuesday morning.

More rain is possible across Metro Detroit Tuesday, however no severe weather is expected.
