LIVONIA (WWJ) -- A Flint-area woman who ran over a mother and her two children after a fireworks show in Livonia has pleaded guilty to criminal charges.

A Wayne County Circuit Court spokesman confirmed that 56-year-old Tammy Sandoval entered a guilty plea on Wednesday to the charges of driving while license suspended causing death and driving while license suspended causing serious injury.

The tragic crash happened at around 10:45 p.m. on June 29 as the family was trying to cross Merriman Road at Lyndon, near the site of the Livonia Spree fireworks show.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Sandoval was driving a pickup truck when she hit 28-year-old Tia Robinson and her 3-year-old twins, Khalil and Khloe, who were on foot. All three pedestrians were rushed to a hospital where Khalil died of his injuries.

Sandoval, a Mount Morris resident, fled the scene, but was tracked down by police and arrested.

Officials said Sandoval was driving on a suspended license at the time, as a result of past injury-related driving incidents.

She now faces between five and 15 years in prison when she's sentenced on Jan. 6.
