2 more fatal shootings in N.O. after a violent 4th of July weekend

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two separate homicides on Monday.

These latest fatal shootings follow four people killed and 14 others injured in nine separate shootings over the July 4th holiday.

Homicide detectives are investigating one homicide in Mid-City. Police say it happened about 12:23 p.m. in the 3100 block of Baudin Street. According to police, when officers arrived they found an adult male victim shot to death inside a vehicle. EMS pronounced the man dead on the scene.

Just ten minutes later, a second homicide happened in the 14000 block of Chef Menteur Highway in Michoud. In this incident, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area. When they arrived on the scene, they found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he was later pronounced deceased.
